Investment Officer II, Private Asset Operations
The CalSTRS Investments Branch is seeking an experienced individual to work as an Investment Officer II in the Investment Operations Unit.
Investment Operations’ primary function is to provide middle-office support for internal and external portfolio activities by performing pre-settlement portfolio controls, cash and trade management, cash flow analysis, portfolio and total fund reporting, and by partnering with the asset classes to align operational services for the successful implementation of the Investment Policy and Management Plan.
Under the direction of the Associate Portfolio Manager, the incumbent provides investment and financial expertise, oversees the operational complexities in managing the CalSTRS’ Investment Portfolio and performs a wide range of analytical and technical work to support the functions of Investment Operations. The incumbent is expected to perform complex duties requiring a high degree of independence, confidentiality, creativity and discretionary judgment.

Responsibilities of the Investment Officer II include:
  • Performing and overseeing the operational complexities in managing the CalSTRS Investment Portfolio.
  • Performing operational functions associated with each of the private asset classes including reconciling and analyzing investment data, commitments, cash flows, pricing and valuations.
  • Executing the implementation of the private assets operational tasks migration plan and perform the more complex tasks migrated from the private asset classes to Investments Operations.
  • Researching and implementing industry best practices to standardize operational processes across the private asset classes to reduce manual processing.
  • Creating and performing controls on the operational functions of each of the private asset classes.
This position is eligible for incentive compensation and has a maximum incentive opportunity of 10% of base salary.
