2025 Preconference Sessions
P2F2 will offer three preconference sessions that will take place concurrently from 9:00 - 11:45 AM on Sunday, October 26 at the Sheraton Downtown Phoenix hotel just before our annual conference gets underway. The cost to attend one of the sessions is $125, which includes course material and lunch.
Here's some information about each of the preconference sessions.
Help! I Need a New General Ledger: What do I Do?
Many of our pension systems will be migrating from one General Ledger (GL) package to a new one in the next 5 years, especially in light of Microsoft's announcement that they will no longer support Dynamics GP after 2029. That migration process can be very difficult and time consuming--and where do you start?
This preconference session will walk you through the process from beginning to end. We'll first look at the various options for GL packages, including the pros and cons of each. We'll discuss ERP systems, cloud-based systems and stand-alone options. We'll also review the most common solutions used by public pension systems.
Once we've reviewed the different options, experts in the field will discuss the best way to structure the migration process. We'll see a timeline of what needs to be done and when. We'll discuss the role of outside consultants and where you might want to use one. We'll even dig into some of the details, including how to update your chart of accounts.
Finally, we'll hear lessons learned from colleagues who have recently migrated to a new GL, giving you a head start on what to do and what not to do in your own migration.
For those who are interested, demos of the three most common GL packages will be available Sunday afternoon.
Follow the Money: Understanding the Financial Lifecycle of a Pension Plan

Participants will gain a foundational understanding of how money flows through a pension system, including:
