    CAFR Preparation Software

Chicago Teachers Pension Fund would like to know if other Funds utilize a CAFR preparation software. If so what system is your Fund utilizing? Also how did your Fund go about the selection process?

    Thanks

    Hi Alice,

We are not using currently CAFR preparation tool, but we are in the process of evaluating Workiva – Wdesk system for our CAFR preparation. It has many great features and the cost is $25000 per year + $10,000 for one time initial CAFR setup.

I am not sure if you have heard about it or not but let me know if you need more information, I can connect you with the person at Workiva.

    Thanks,

I work for the City of Dallas Pension Fund. Last year we utilized Gravity software from IGM Technology. I am pleased with the software.
I will be glad to talk to you in detail next week. Currently I am very busy with the year-end process. Thanks

    Alise,

Wisconsin Department of Employee Trust Funds has implemented Wdesk to help with our CAFR preparation this year. So far, we love it. We are still in the middle of setting up all the links for the first year. There is a lot of set up, but once that is done, it is going to be amazing. Our graphs already look better than what we have gotten back from our vendor the first time. We found out about Wdesk at the P2F2 Conference, and then had them in so they could show us a demo. We talked with 3 other states that have implemented, or were in the process of implementing Wdesk. We got positive feedback from each of them. We really like the ability to print a pdf of the entire CAFR anytime we want. Previously, we just had it in pieces and didn’t see it all together until we got it back from our vendor.

    Hi Alise,

About a year ago, we went with Workiva's Wdesk. They were the only software we really considered. Their headquarters is only about a half hour from our office, which has been very convenient; although they are an international company now.

We used the software for the first time to produce our FY17 CAFR. With the exception of the cover and divider pages, everything else came directly from the Wdesk system. Although we didn't make full use of everything the system has to offer in that first year, we all agreed that we were happy that we went with Workiva. Their customer service is excellent and the system definitely solved some of the frustrations we had had in producing our CAFR in prior years.

If you would like to see our finished product, I've provided a link below.

We hope to more fully utilize all the functionality that Wdesk has to offer in this coming year, as well as perhaps use the software for other tasks, such as presentations.

Please let me know if you would like any further information. Best of luck as you move forward!
